Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 Movie Gifts and Stuff

What I really hate is when somebody writes a review of a movie and tells me everything I will see if I plunk down a bunch of cash to try to enjoy it after they ruined everything.

Now, I have to write a movie review without telling you, the reader, anything that will spoil it for you. This is hard.

I have seen all three Iron Man movies. The other two, however, I saw on TV and not in the 3D super whatever that, I, the unknowing, apparently paid a few dollars extra to see. So, since I saw it in 3D, every explosion was sort of coming right at me. That gives nothing away, because you already know that there are going to be explosions in this movie. I am just not going to tell you where. (HA!) But I am going to tell you that if you can afford to plunk down the extra bucks, do it. 3D is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cool.

Now, the plot…there are bad guys and they mess things up. The primary bad guy appears to be someone called “The Mandarin” played by Ben Kingsley. His performance should get him an Academy Award. I am serious. He was GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT!

Two things to watch in Ben Kingsley’s character and his performance. MONUMENTAL bad guy. And a MONUMENTAL wussy, too. See it, you’ll understand.

I would like to have seen more Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow). She is very cool in the Iron Man suit (not giving it away it is in every trailer I’ve seen), and , well, she explodes she is so wonderful. Or, does she? (Again, see the movie, you will understand.)

Don Cheadle, whom I absolutely adore, is, of course Cheadley terrific as Lt. Col. James Rhodes. But then, Mr. Cheadle could read the telephone book and I would happily watch his recitation. Would love to see more of him in the movie, as well as the Iron Patriot (really cool suit!), but no one consulted with me when they made the movie.

Oh, yeah, and they have a cute, smart, and very helpful kid in this one. Couldn’t get along without the kid. Absolutely not.

Of course, I have to say something about Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Trouble is, I am not a big fan of either the character or actor. I find them both to be insufferably arrogant and annoying. The first has an excuse, he was written that way for the movies. The second, well, he IS a terrific actor. I am just not fond of him. But he WAS great in the part. Appropriately insufferable and arrogant as expected.

Now, did I tell you enough without telling you anything? I sure hope so.

Oh, yes, one tiny little spoiler. It looks like Mr. Stark will need a new house. BUT WONDERFUL special effects!
