My husband and I went to see the new movie Star Trek Into The Darkness about a week after it was released. This movie was comprised of much of the same actors from the 2009 Star Trek movie. It had been quite a while since watching the 2009 movie so we rented that movie from iTunes the night before as a refresher. I must say, I am very happy we did that. It really did help re-establish this young crew in my mind and it also allowed us to see how in the new 2013 movie, they allowed the characters to mature.
I loved the interaction between Captain Kirk and Spock in the Star Trek Into The Darkness movie. Bones and Scotty were great too. The young Uhura is very pretty but I don’t see her as a very strong character. Chekov seemed a bit quirky. I do think that Sulu did a pretty good job in the movie as well. I think they kept true to the franchise with their story and characters. The actor who played the villain in this movie, Benedict Cumberbatch did a fine job. To prevent from giving a spoiler here, I will say, I was a little disappointed as who this character was suppose to be, I would have preferred a new character.
Chris Pine plays Captain Kirk and he is wonderful, cocky and brave and has amazing blue eyes. Zachary Quinto plays Spock and he looks so good he could be Leonard Nimoy’s son….but of course he isn’t. He is playing a young Leonard Nimoy – Spock.
There is plenty of action and special effects in this movie. Sometimes you may notice a slight bit of the old Star Trek music during actions scenes reminiscent of the old TV shows yet modernized. I wish they had included more aliens in the movie, that would have been nice.
All in all it was a very entertaining movie. The beginning was a little slow in a few spots as they were developing the characters and what was happening, but I didn’t mind that, my husband was a little impatient. If you enjoy Star Trek and want to have a fun adventure, I think you will enjoy this movie.
Here are a couple trailers:
Another trailer, just slightly different.
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I hope you are ready to go see it now.
I would like to share some awesome Star Trek shirts!
I am excited about the new movie, Oz The Great And Powerful, but I love the original movie, The Wizard Of Oz.
It is hard to believe it was 1939 when the original movie was released, it was so advanced for the technology of those days. My mother was a small child and lived close enough to walk to the movies and this was major entertainment for her, not just casual go to the movies. My mother has told me several times at how she was so excited to see this wonderful movie with all its characters, beautiful change from black and white to color, and the magical land. I grew up watching this movie on TV, it was on once a year and was quite a special occasion and will always rank as one of my all time favorite movies. I’m still a little creeped out with the flying monkeys!
Since I haven’t seen the new movie yet, I can’t really comment on it, except that I love the trailer for it.
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you can watch it here below:
I would like to share some fun designs of The Wizard Of Oz Fan Merch.
Dorothy’s Time Machine design available on shirts, bags and gifts.
Here is a fun T-shirt with Dorothy’s time machine on it. Of course her ruby red slippers were her time machine.
A fun curtain that reads: Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain. This is available as a shower curtain and 60″ and 84″ room curtains.
I love the scene in The Wizard Of Oz where the wizard is standing behind the curtain controlling the big wizard display and he gets caught hiding behind the curtain. It is just so ridiculous an funny to hear him shout
“Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”
Remember to Follow the yellow brick road with this fun sticker and other gifts like phone cases, shirts and hats and more.
I always enjoyed the happy part of the movie when they started skipping down the yellow brick road singing the song.
